Who is ByFolkTong?
Many people keep asking me the same question:
“Why are you hiding?”
But the truth is simple: I’m not hiding at all.
I’m not trying to be mysterious. I’m not disguising myself.
I’m simply here — with everyone.
With the listeners. With the viewers. With the people who are looking into the same mirror through these stories.
Everything Begins with a Song
Everything for me always begins with a song.
Before there is an image, before there is a music video, before there is even a story, there is only the emotion of the music.
And with every song I write, there is usually an image that already exists in my mind.
Sometimes it is a place. Sometimes it is a person. Sometimes it is only an atmosphere — or silence.
I never try to force the image to be exact.
It is more like air floating around the music.
The images can change. They can shift in a fraction of a second.
But in the end, the image and the song must walk together.
Because the song always gives the image first.
Stories as Mirrors
The stories I create are often seen as narratives.
But to me, they are actually mirrors.
I’m not trying to say who is right or who is wrong. I’m not trying to turn any character into a villain.
I try to see every character through their own reasons.
Because in real life, everyone has their reasons.
That is why these stories are not meant to tell people what to think.
They are simply mirrors.
Each viewer sees something different.
Some people see love. Some people see departure. Some people see the weight of life.
And some people see themselves.
Three Words
If I had to summarize the entire universe of my work, it would come down to three words.
Every human life moves through these three things.
Different Mirrors, Same Story
The stories I create are simply different mirrors reflecting the same human truth.
J&D is a mirror of love.
Kang Junho / If I Go is a mirror of leaving.
ChoCho / No Wind is a mirror of living — and the burden that comes with it.
They may look like different stories, but they are really the same story, reflected through different mirrors.
And some mirrors are larger than others.
No Wind is one of those mirrors.
It is a mirror large enough for many people to look into it and find themselves inside.
Why I Don’t Explain Everything
I don’t try to explain everything.
Sometimes silence says more than words.
Images, music, and quiet moments can speak on their own.
That is why I prefer to leave space for the audience.
Everyone can find their own meaning.
The Process
My creative process is very simple.
The song reveals an image.
The image becomes a moment.
And those moments become music videos and short pieces of story.
I’m not creating images to decorate the music.
I’m simply revealing the images that already exist inside the song.
The Only Weakness
If there is one weakness in my channel, it is very simple.
It’s not the work. It’s not the ideas.
It’s just this:
But that’s not really a problem.
Because in the end, if someone watches, if someone listens, if someone feels something, they will answer the question themselves:
And Finally
So who is ByFolkTong?
The answer might not be a single person.
ByFolkTong is a voice, an image, and a feeling that we share.
Whenever someone watches a moment and thinks,
That is the moment ByFolkTong exists.
I’m not hiding.
I’m simply here.
In the same world. Inside the same story.
And if you ask,
The answer is simple.
I’m right here — with everyone who is watching, listening, and looking into that mirror.
